Super Heroes of Johannesburg

During the documentation of Anthea Moys performing through the city she found another companion along the way. She put him in a red cape and they ran through the city for a race for art. During this I took this portrait of her companion in his red cape on the Nelson Mandela Bridge.

I have titled the image 'Super heroes of Johannesburg'.

Let me know what you all think.

Pretty / Basic

Thought I'd put these 2 images up that I shot on my Canon G9. Unretouched and totally random, I like them and I think they should get a little light on the blog.

Hope you like them.

The Bloody Beetroots

Did a little shoot with the Italian electro/club collective 'The Bloody Beetroots' who performed at The End Is Nigh in Johannesburg on Saturday night. Really cool guys who really know how to get a party going.

Had a super fun time and took some cool portraits of them.

Bad Boyz Security. The best and most intimidating security guards around.

Would you trust this man?

Took this image at a friends wedding a couple of weeks ago and it gave me chills. I never remembered the ice cream truck driver been so scary. If I was a child I would run for my life and not look back. Would you trust your child buying ice cream from this man?

A quick update on what I have been up to... I have just returned from been an emereging creative at the design indaba in Cape Town. It was an amazing experience and I met some very talented people from around the world. I will post more commentry on this subject as it unfolds.

Have a nice day.

Khayelitsha

As read on artheat, "Another cool kid white boy hanging in the slums yo." Written by another struggling white 'artist'/critic from Cape Town.

"I don't care what they say about me as long as they spell my name right." P.T. Barnum

Fashion in Khayelitsha

A week ago I thought about shooting Haute couture in Khayelitsha, the largest township in the western cape. Louw Coetzer, Liz van der Merwe and myself headed off with Rebecca from Y Models to the township. Above is one of the making of shots. The final shoot will be up the minute post production is complete.

Chicken or Fish

Recently in Mozambique I shot this shot of a bunch of fishermans daily catch which they where selling to all the tourists living in the area. The other pic is from Khayelitsha, shot outside a butchery off Mew Way Rd in the Township. The last pic was shot this week while shooting a fashion editorial in the township, I found it a little horrific the way the lambs head looks like its smiling. No wonder they call them smileys!

The Leica Competition

In Cape Town last week I was invited to enter a competition to win a Leica M8. All we had to do was find 5 great images at the L'ormarins Queens Cup at Kenilworth race track. These are two of the shots I entered into the competition.

Shooting in berea bares many fruits...

Feeling safe in the city allows the city to inspire you in a different way that it normally would. Berea in Johannesburg is normally not an easy place to float around in with a camera strapped around your neck snapping away. I was working on a Chevrolet ad today with Suburban films and in some spare time when the weather wasn't hot I got to shoot these pics.

Team Uncool & Decontruction in One Small Seed Magazine.

Team Uncool and I recently worked with Deconstruction TV to produce our newest shoot. Deconstruction are a free thinking and multidimensional company working in the spheres of music, television and general creative thinking. Malcom Che' and Adrian Foreo are the masterminds behind the conceptual company and after coming to Team Uncool to produce something for them, this is what we did.

The shoot can also be seen in the December One Small Seed magazine.
