The Future Shock Collective

Two weeks ago I got to shoot the Future Shock Collective, a new fashion collective from Johannesburg. We decided to shoot both the mens and womens range on a female model. They will primarily be selling their clothes in Europe but you can contact them directly if your interested.

It was a pleasure working with them.

'Concentration' camps in Berlin.

While surrounded by some of the most amazing art I have ever seen in Berlin earlier this year I became obsessed by the oppressive and rather obscure moving security guards in a gallery, so I decided to document them. The guards instilled a fearsome and oppressive mood in the space, every time a voice was lifted a piercing stare would be in your direction and if you got a little to close to the art on the walls they would slowly creep towards you as if about to pounce. They made for great subject matter.

Love to Hate

In Amsterdam a couple of months ago while at a gig with 'Nobody Beats The Drum,' a friend Jori's electro group we ended up at Artquake music festival just outside of Amsterdam close to airport. As most things close to the airport it was a bit like h20 except 20 times smaller.

Found this character with a great t-shirt sitting on the banks near the second stage. Thought it was great.

Hope you enjoy it.

Shaun Stander - An old friend

A good friend of mine who moved to Vancouver Shaun Stander, has recently put up his first website. In my opinion he is one of the most talented photographers I have ever met from South Africa. His work is verbally indescribable and has to be seen before judgment can be made. Every viewer will see something different in it and the background behind it is the story of life and its simplicities.

Black Coffee Backstage Documentary - Berlin Fashion Week 2009 - Wanted Magazine (August)

Backstage at Berlin Fashion week I got the opportunity to shoot a Fashion Documentary on Black Coffee's new range which was on show at the event. The IMG models which where cast where very professional and super easy to shoot from all angles. During the hustle and bustle of the models prepping and walking out onto the catwalk, I managed to capture the glamour and unique aesthetic of Black Coffee's beautiful garments.

The shots below where prepared for The Business Days Wanted Magazine where they where presented as a fashion editorial. One of the image was used as the front cover.

Please enjoy and send feedback.

Love Jozi Hillbrow

Last month, I shot the new Love Jozi T-Shirt campaign. The new range is 'The Hilbrow range' so we decided to shoot the range in the middle of the infamous part of Johannesburg city. The first image in the series below is a replication from a old image of Hillbrow we found in a now historic book. We found the same spot in the now dilapidated High Point which used to be the centre of the Johannesburg night life.

The rest of the shoot was shot around the area in other aesthetically pleasing and relevant spots.

To see the range and the rest of the shots please check out http://www.lovejozi.co.za
