Ballantines Angola TVC

Last year I was commissioned by M&C Saatchi London to direct a TV commercial for Ballantines whisky in Angola. We ended up with a piece shot in downtown Johannesburg, re-creating what I thought was a mad party on the streets on Luanda. It was windy and cold, but pulled of a sweaty, smoky and vibey 30 / 60 / 90 second TVC. 

Here is the 30 Second version, I think its the most to the point out of all three.

KWV 3 for Gloo (CT)

As we all know Im really bad at posting my own work online lately. It comes with been completely inundated with things to do. When I first moved into Studio Studio (my new studio in The Maboneng Precinct) I was approached by Gloo Cape Town  to a do a shoot for KWV R3mix a new creative platform they where working on for the brand.

We where briefed to get relevant personalities from Johannesburg excelling in their different disciplines, We then shot them all around the studio which is based in Maboneng / Jeppestown. 

Khaya Sibiya (Punk & Ivy / Stylist) put together an eclectic group of young creatives from Johannesburg. We worked with Choc Seruno (Rapper / Actor), Maitele Wawe (Fashion Designer / Blogger), Bakers Man (Skater / Soweto Skate Society) and Anthony Billa (Photographer / The Experessionist).

Red Bull Beat Battle

Its a week away from the annual Red Bull Beat Battle competition. This year I was commissioned by Red Bull South Africa to shoot the above the line advertising campaign for the Beat Battle. For the campaign I had the pleasure of working with last years winners, The Reptilez. I decided to post the images today when I noticed one of the billboards on Johannesburg main highway the M1 South.

Im very much on the mission to put up some of my Advertising work at the moment. Really enjoyed shooting this campaign, they let me do my thing, it was all lit available light using huge reflectors as lighting.

It was also a pleasure to work under the direction of Justice Mukheli (I see a different you).

Sprite Be Uncontainable

I never really put up advertising work onto my blog and thought it was about time. There are a couple of billboard campaigns floating around South Africa which I wanted to feature, the first one being for Sprite, which I shot earlier this year. It was for the Uncontainable campaign, which climaxed in a concert last week in Johannesburg featuring Talib Kweli. The ads where made by Ogilvy Johannesburg under the Art Direction Zach Nossel.

SABC 1 - Entertainment Campaign.

Finally its time to put up some of the bigger projects from last year. I have been waiting for them to go live for ages now and have finally been given the 'authority' to release this work. One of the great advertising projects I shot last year was the new SABC 1 - Entertainment campaign. I was commissioned by Masters & Savant Johannesburg and the job was an array of different shows, namely Seskhona, Selimathunzi, Club Culture, Turn it out (Where is shot some of the dancers from my S'Phara Phara exhibition) and the Real Gaboza.

Earlier this year I shot the stills for The Royal Metropol's, 'Coca-Cola Ultimate Goal' Campaign. Most of the shots where used in the press and as PR, but there where a couple of shots used on Billboard.

I have included some of the original shots and some of the final comps in this update.

Nike Shot Wins at Cannes 2009

One of my shots which was used in a Nike Women ad has won silver at Cannes Lions this year.

Young Black & Gifted - (Channel 0 Campaign)

I recently shot the Channel O 'Young, Gifted & Black ' campaign for Ogilvy Johannesburg. I have uploaded some of the images to the blog. The campaign started with a remake of a classic song which lead to a celebrity driven music video and later led onto a t-shirt campaign. They are currently running a competition where you can design a t-shirt of your own and enter it in to be part of the campaign.

We took the Smarteez who I shot last year and we dressed them into the shirts and shot them around Johannesburg. We shot them over one evening and one day in locations such as Joubert Park, Braamfontein and Kliptown Soweto.
